In Photoshop a layer can be locked against movement but it allows painting to be done. Is there a work-around in Painter to accomplish this?

In order to lock the layer in Corel Painter, you will need to select it from the layers panel and to press the Click to view icon. The lock icon will appear next to the name of the layer. As in Photoshop, you can work with the locked layer if you add a layer mask using the Click to view icon, or if you add a layer above the locked one using Click to view button. Check the official user guide for further information. You can find the Locking Layers chapter at page 498.
