Corel Painter 11 finally is a worthy adversary for the traditional art studio. The integration of photo editing and digital art features into one package is what really sets it apart from other like-minded programs.
Corel 11 boasts better performance than any of the previous versions, better colour recognition when importing images and collaborating with other graphics programs, and new selection tools. The broad range of settings available for brush creation will enable you to create tools to your exact specifications. I was especially impressed with the new digital watercolour layers which behave absolutely true to the real deal.
On the down side, the learning curve is extremely high if you have never used digital painting software before. The daunting amount of brush settings, though a necessity for the professional artist, will be intimidating to the novice.
